Tiny Boxes, Teeming (2-Part Class) with Carol Guess

January 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This two-part class will take place at Open Books on January 20 and 27, 10:00 am – noon.

Compression forces us to choose wisely, to winnow, to do without. Simultaneously, we celebrate what remains and the surprise that emerges. This two-part course will incorporate strategies for compressing narrative or lyric text into prose poetry. We’ll read samples of brilliant compressed prose poems, practice writing exercises, and read our work aloud or in pairs. There will be homework between the first and second class sessions, so green light some writing time between.
Preregistration is required, and the cost is $50 per person.
You can reserve your spot online here.
